Before the survey

A practical plan for your next bathroom

Turn the things that frustrate you today into a clear set of priorities for the new room.

Start with a normal morning

Write down how many people use the room, what needs storing and where you get in each other’s way. Keep a proper list of practical needs alongside your favourite photographs.

Draw the room you have

Take rough wall-to-wall measurements and mark doors, windows, existing fixtures and ceiling changes. Photograph the room from each corner. These notes help a conversation, but a professional survey must confirm final dimensions.

Separate needs from preferences

Decide which improvements are essential and which can change if the layout or budget requires it. Keeping a bath, adding a larger shower and gaining storage may compete for the same space.

Bring the hidden work into view

Ask about ventilation, waste routes, floor condition and access to services. Those decisions often shape the visible layout. Record open questions in your brief rather than assuming that every idea is feasible.

Put the ideas into your brief.

Keep your priorities in one place, then review and download your plan. No enquiry is submitted by this demonstration.
